Could This Be a Full Week????

Well, if we are lucky, we will dodge the yucky weather that is coming to Iowa, and we could actually have 5 FULL DAYS of school this week, 5B! It will be nice to get back into a routine and make some progress in our classes. We had a pretty good week last week. I was hoping our class bloggers would have gotten a post out to you this week. We're going to have to make sure we make that a priority this week - especially since we have 5 FULL DAYS!!

I hope your weekends were fun. I stuffed myself full of Belgium waffles on Sunday. I can barely roll myself around my house today. Hopefully, I can get back on track for school Monday.

Good Going Tuesday...

After 5 days off, I would have thought it would be tougher for us to stay on task. However, we had a pretty decent day, 5B! Compliments from math were nice to hear. Unfortunately, we didn't show much responsibility with our social studies face paper plate and Radical Reader jobs. Remember, I would have given out yellow slips to parents as reminders that these projects were not done on time. Please prove to Mrs. Halverson, to me and yourself that responsibility is something you have no problems with, ok?

Many of you asked about making up the play we missed, but I honestly am not sure yet. We have an option, but we're not sure 3rd and 5th graders would be interested in it. So, I'll keep you posted.

Your job for me to prove you checked the blog... With our celebration movie and PJ day coming up, we need to decide on movie to watch. Please list 2 movies you think would be fun for our class to view for our celebration. Remember, movies with inappropriate language will not be even considered. So think wisely. Maybe your families have suggestions, too. Write them on TWO different post it notes and stick them to the whiteboard when you come in. We'll take a class vote on Wednesday sometime.

Remember, you can bring a snack or drink for Wednesday when we listen to Hot Topics. (Of course, no peanut products or caffeinated drinks please.) See you soon. Oh, we also have library out of literacy on Wednesday, so don't forget your books.

I can't believe 5 days just flew by! I missed you guys! I hope everyone had fun, relaxing days off! If you checked the blog before this post, you know that a make-up day for our field trip to Cedar Falls is unlikely. Don't worry, though, we have other field trips to enjoy coming up, AND don't forget our PJ/Dress-up Day with a movie! We need to pick a movie for that day and decide which day we'll be celebrating for making our goal of 700!! So, don't be too disappointed. We'll move on, right?

Radical Readers - be ready with books, costumes, name and enthusiasm!
Face Plates for Soc.St. are due Tuesday. You've had almost 2 weeks...no excuses...

Big Fat Bummer!!

Hey, 5B,
What a bummer for today, huh?? I was looking forward to a fun way to celebrate our hard work to prepare for your student-led conferences. I know everyone likes having a day off of school here and there, but we already had a 4 day weekend! Grr.... I have no idea if we are able to reschedule the play or not. I know we had this play planned way back last spring, so it's not likely that we will make this up. Don't worry, though, we have other field trips planned for your this year.

Well, there is no use complaining, I guess. So, enjoy your 5 DAYS OFF! Unfortunately we will have to make these days up, so I'm sorry, you're stuck with me longer than you maybe had planned!

I put some of my favorites from Stumble Upon on the blog. You'll have to let me know if you can get to them. It may say that you need to have an account. I'll try it, too.

Have great weekends. Don't forget those of you who have Radical Reader on Tuesday of next week. Also, many of you have your face plates to finish for Tuesday for Mrs. Halverson. If you forgot things at school, be responsible and find a way to complete your assignment still on time.

First I want to compliment you for your hard work, productive class time and responsibility this week. I've seen an increase in getting homework done and returning papers! Great job. The time you have been practicing for your student-led conference has been well spent! Keep it up!

Now for the grumpy side of things.... I know we chatted at the end of the day about improving our chattiness and listening. I'd now like to see the actual improvement from you. I'm hoping Friday will end with an explosion of Cadet Pride! I'm thinking we're getting awfully close to our goal of 700! It would be quite a bummer to get so close but not make it because of silly behaviors like chatting when we know not to, right??

So, let's see what tomorrow brings, OK? Two more things... If you noticed, I added a link about Roger Williams on the blog if you needed it for social studies. Also, I'll know you checked the blog if you ask me this question when you come in on Friday: Why are you leaving us at noon today?

Another Short One..

I just wanted to let you know I got that website unblocked for us!! I'm so excited to show you how it works. A few students got to play one of the games Tuesday before lunch. They really liked it! I can't wait to show you more of my "favorites" from the site. After I show you in class, I'll add it to the blog on the side like all of the other cool websites so you can try it at home if you want.
