A Few Bubbles in the Air Today...

Hey, there 5B!
I am curious how many of you will check the blog today:)  The title of this post is kinda the theme of the day.  With all of the great learning and using of our iPads, also came a lot of distractions (or bubbles as we call them).....

My "mom" personality started coming out today, so that means we are definitely feeling like a 5B Family!  That's so great!  However, the "mom side" comes out sometimes when we've made several mistakes and aren't learning from them...  SO, let's use the T.H.I.N.K. strategy to help remind us, ok?

We had a super day of learning and fun, and I plan on many more!  Let's just try to ignore those bubbles that float on by us:)

In science, your observation skills were quite detailed.  I think we have some blooming scientists in 5B!

Remember for tomorrow:
Blue or Cadet shirt if possible
Water Bottles - for sure! (Will be hot out there)
Note from parents if staying at the Wellness Celebration
Other:  Harvest Fest T-shirt form due also!

Here's some AWESOME, AMAZING examples of Read to Self today!  I LOVED the Sock Puppet suggestions you shared. They were RIGHT ON TARGET!

Look at these Perfect Models down below!!  Oh, and I'll know you checked the blog, if you make a guess about the new students we will be meeting tomorrow!  I forgot to mention to you that we are MORE classmates joining us!  Yikes!?  Where will be put them?  Write down how many new students you think are joining our class.  Hand it to me as you come in:)  Ok??   Can't wait to introduce you to them.  I'm pretty sure they will NOT be out at recess in the morning, so you won't meet them until we are in class.  Have a great night!  5B, ROCK ON!!

Another FAB Day in 5B!

Hey,  5B!  I can't get over how quickly our days are flying by.  It seems like we just start the day, and then I am sending you home already!!  Ahh...

I'm loving how enthusiastic everyone has been this week getting into the swing of things.  The only thing I'm thinking we could be working on is the chatting when moving from one area to the next.  But, hey, that's ok, because MISTAKES are PROOF that we are TRYING:)  Right?!

So, let's see if we can start learning from our mistakes of chatting when it's not necessary.  Remember the 5 letter word on the wall above the coffee table? T. H. I. N. K.  Do you remember what any of those letters stand for?  This will be your blog proof.  Write down at least ONE of the letters and what they stand for on a piece of paper.  Bring it to me as you come in on Thursday, ok? I'll give you a hint: I already wrote down ONE of the words that stands for the N:)

Have a great night.  Keep up the amazing 5B Cadet Pride!  I can't wait for another day of fun, laughs, and learning!

Oh, and let me know if you enjoyed the book you checked out today?  I'm curious if you'll be able to show me how to "Read to Self" tomorrow in reading class!

Buh-Bye,
Mrs. Sorenson

A Whole Lot of Learning Today...

Wow, 5B, I bet your brains are EXPLODING with new learning today!  I read your emails from the Reading Quiz I gave you:  What is reading?  You all did a great job sharing what you know.  However, NOW, you know the REAL answer, don't you?!  The same goes for writing!

I'll know you checked the blog tonight if you share both of those questions and answers with your family tonight.  Hopefully, not sitting at the dinner table, but at some point:)  Have your parents send a quick note saying, "Yep, he/she showed me the answers!!"  Then of course, have them sign it.  Give me the note as you come in on Wednesday morning:)  I am curious what they think??:)

Also, don't forget 2 homework assignments for tonight:
Writing:  Find magazines or papers to bring in for your notebook to cover it
Science:  Bring in an object that will make us curious:)  This will be interesting!

PLEASE be sure to thank your families for doing such a great job on getting our homework done on time!  The compliments and bragging are super!  It seems I have some pretty amazing students in our 5B Family:)

Here's a few photos from today!  We were so busy thinking, learning, listening, etc., that I don't have as many photos from today:(  Sorry!

Have a great night tonight, and stay cool!
TTFN,
Mrs. Sorenson

Marvelous Monday!

Well, 5B!  You continue to amaze me! Not only are you Rock Stars!  You are 5B Angels (ding...ahhhh) as well!  Yippee for 5B!  The line patrol signal worked like a charm, too!  How will you ever remember all of these little phrases???  Oh, I've ONLY just begun!  You'll learn 2 more (at least on Tuesday!)

I wanted to compliment 5B on the respect shown during the "distracting" activities today:
1) Messy Painting and Complaining about Writing
2) Matheletes Find Math Everywhere

You were able to show that the "bubbles" or distractions that come into our room do affect us, but there are ways to avoid them or work around them without getting in the way of learning and fun!  Yeehaw, Babies!!  Keep it up!

Tomorrow, you have P.E., so don't forget some type of running shoes for that.  Flip flops and sandals don't seem to be the best for safe movements:)

Also, tomorrow we will work on our "Messy Writing" project more.  I know writing can get "messy" but you can handle it!  Right?

I'll know you checked the blog if you come in the room in the morning, put your symbol on the laptop and grab your Guess Who? page or your Mistakes are Proof that you are Trying page and continue working on them.

Here are more photos of fun had in 5B today!  I can't wait for more memories to create for tomorrow!
