Oh, My, Oh, My....

This was our day....

YIKES!!!  We had a TOUGH Tuesday!  Although our little 5B cherubs LOOKED amazing for school pictures, the impulsive behaviors and chatting was out of control!  YIKES, YIKES, YIKES!

Your blog proof tonight will be involving your parents/family.  Can you please explain to them what the bubbles represent for our class?  Explain the activity we did to help us understand why we refer to bubbles on a day like today.  Your blog proof should be a note from your mom, dad, or someone who is "in charge"  at home stating that you've explained what we mean by bubbles!  Also, be sure they include what "bubbles" you are struggling with (and remember, we are a 5B Family, so we understand that mistakes happen.  However, we need to actually fix them, not keep repeating them).

Just to be clear, 5B, this is not an "I'm in trouble note" at all.  I just want to be sure that families are completely aware and can help you make the best choices possible to learn!

Poor Sawyer... Happy Birthday!  Due to the bubbles and behaviors, he went through a lightning speed birthday dance at the VERY end of the day!  Thanks for the yummy treats, Bud!!  HOPEFULLY, tomorrow will be a WONDERFUL Wednesday so we can celebrate ANOTHER birthday without the craziness that happened to dear Sawyer!

So, I'm thinking the message below is one to read over a few times before tomorrow's class time...
So, let's answer this question,
"Can we FIX IT?"

Take it from Bob, the Builder....

Homework!
Math:  Remember any math homework you may have tonight!
Reading:  International Reading Day - Get those door hangers hung up and read 20 minutes every day/night!
Extra:  Also, if you can get your parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles, etc. to go out and VOTE for their choice of school board members, I'll have SOMETHING SPECIAL for YOU!  It's at the fair grounds in the Featherlite building.  Proof will be that little sticker they get OR a note from them stating they DID, in fact, go and vote!

Tomorrow is ALREADY 1/2 way through the week! Yeehaw, baby!!

Happy Labor Day!

Oh, wait!  Maybe when we say, "Happy Labor Day", we don't mean this?????  Hmm...  So confusing!

OK... Maybe THIS is what we mean by, "Happy Labor Day"......

Yeah, that makes more sense!  We are celebrating all of the different kinds of jobs (labor) that our citizens can do to "live the American Dream" that hard work will pay off and take you places!  Ok.. yep, that makes more sense than celebrating women who went into labor...  (Although, that's a pretty amazing job, too!)  Heheheheee!!

I sure hope everyone had a super and relaxing 3 day weekend!  I know you all had some kind plans you were looking forward to... CAMPING seemed to be the biggest....  but family visits, swimming, hanging with friends, just chillin' at home, and all sorts of others.  I didn't get to do the river boat thing I was hoping to do, but we DID visit a place I've never been to before....
If your families haven't done this before, you SHOULD!  It was really interesting, a bit spooky:) and a bit strange!  Check out the link below to find out more about this nearby attractions!

I know it seems like a LONG time ago, but last Friday's STEM activity showed amazing thinking and problem-solving skills from you!  I only have pictures of those students that were in our 5B classroom, but I'm sure all of the designs that were tried were inventive and could have worked with more time, more materials and more thinking.  Here are the ones from our classroom.  It's easy to see which group won:)

This week is a short one but BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!  Here are some reminders for the week!
Tuesday, Sept. 8!
#1 Be sure to PESTER your parents to VOTE for the candidates they want!  Click here for the list of candidates for each district.
If you can get your parents to VOTE, and bring in that STICKER that proves it, I'll supply YOU with a special reward on Wednesday!! Yepperoosie!

#2 Say Cheese!  Don't forget to get some rest, wear that "special outfit", fix your hair the way you want it and be ready for your 5th grade school pictures!  Our pictures are RIGHT before lunch.  So we'll go from our "photo sessions" out for lunch!  How fabulous, darlings!

Wednesday, Sept. 9!
First Parent-Teacher meeting of the year!  It's being revived again, and we are EXTREMELY excited to get more parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. involved.  Please consider attending at the Discovery Center (library) @6:30 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 11!
Fall Fitness Day!  Thanks for those of you who have returned your Volunteer Notes.  I have 1 volunteer so far to help supervise the Bouncy Houses from 8:45 - 9:30.  I'd take more if you are free!  If you have volunteered to help, please stop by the main office at about 8:30 on Friday morning for instructions! Thanks!

Alrighty!  That should just about do it for reminders!  I will KNOW you checked the blog this weekend if you whisper in my ear as you come in on Tuesday morning something that you enjoyed doing this weekend.  It could be ANYTHING!  I'm excited to see my "babies" again!  It's been 3 whole days!  You've probably even GROWN a little!  See you in the morning!  Smiling and ready for school pictures!!

ALMOST 2 FULL WEEKS!

Wow, 5B!
Can you believe it?  Tomorrow will be the survival of 2 FULL WEEKS back at it!  Wowza!  It's been lots of fun, laughs and learning!

Our only "itty bitty" issue we're still working on is the chatty bug that seems to be hanging around.  Your 5B Mama KNOWS you can do it.... I've seen it, YOU'VE seen it!  YOU CAN DO IT!  But just like all bugs that seem to pester us from time to time, we need to get our the swatter to rid ourselves of them!  As you left today, the chatty bug was swatted out of you:)  I got each one of you, so we should have a FABULOUS, FANTASTIC Friday, right?!

I told you that tomorrow we have a special activity planned.  Our morning classes will be the same rotations with each of the Fantastic 5, Dream Team and Wonderful Wackos!  Our afternoon will be something different!  Be sure your brains get some rest tonight because they will be CHALLENGED tomorrow!  I'll tell you more about it in the morning, ok?

I wanted to be sure to give you a HUGE....
for making sure our classroom was picked up today!  MUCH better!  But I did hear one of our 5B family members say that HIS mom at home ALWAYS picks up after him!  Sorry, buddy!  Not here!

The room was FANTASTIC today!  Thanks for fixing it:)

For blog proof tonight... This will be a good one!  I know if we put our minds to it, we'll get this chattiness under control.  Sometimes, we just need some deep, deep focusing.  When you come in on Friday morning, please do your normal balloon popping, get out your materials and THEN find a spot somewhere on the floor to meditate like this dog:)  I'll come to you and whisper "ahh... focus..."  You can then get up and go to your home!  Don't tell anyone the magic words!
Have a peaceful night:)

I Can Tell You're Comfortable....

Hey, 5B!
Well, it's official.... I'm seeing our classroom of students is COMPLETELY feeling like a family and that you feel "at home".  That is absolutely FANTASTIC!  I love that we can be honest, help each other out, remind each other of Cadet Pride and own up to our mistakes!  That's what families do!
So glad!  Let's be sure that our new classmate (and family member, Haley) feels the same comfort by welcoming her with caring, trustworthy, responsible and respectful actions!  OK?

The ONLY problem that comes with feeling COMFORTABLE and like we are at HOME... is....

Well.. I'm becoming a "mama" of about 29 little cherubs who are FORGETTING TO PICK UP THEIR STUFF!  Yikes, today after school, I spent quite a bit of time picking up papers, pencil bags, water bottles, bags, crayons, folders, headphones, Starburst wrappers and other stuff...  Hmmm... I'm not sure how your family at home deals with this, but your 5B Mama??  Nope!  You'll need to learn to pick up after yourself from now on:)

So...  if you look at the picture below, you'll see many items.  I gathered them all in the back of the room.  When you come in on Thursday, please go back there and look for YOUR materials.  Put them away in the correct spot, please.  If you used a tray, you know they have places to be put back neatly.  Let's be sure we show Cadet Pride in our classroom, too!

A Few Reminders for the Week...
1) Library is Thursday - bring back books IF you are no longer reading them.
2) Bring a bottle of water for Friday's special activity.
3) Remember to bring in your picture packets anytime before Sept. 10 Picture Day!
4) Feel free to bring your own water bottle any of these hot days.  The water fountain is always such a busy place.  If you have your own, you can just fill it up in our sink!

Ok... for blog proof... There is a secret code written throughout the blog.  Go back and pay attention to the sets of colored letters.  Each different color of letters is a word.  Figure out what the phrase is and write it down on a piece of paper.  Show it to me as you walk in on Thursday morning!

Tricky Tricky! Good luck and good night!

REALLY Short Post Tonight....

Get it??
Short post??

I'll know you checked the blog if you...
1) Come in the room :)
2) Pop your attendance balloon :)
3) Get out your materials for switching classes at your homes:)
Finally...
4)  STAND UP STILL and SILENT like a POST!  (Only move back to your spot when I say, "Did you see my 'short post'?"  Be sure to stay there until I say that question!!  Hehehehe!

Thanks for being so goofy with me!!  Tomorrow is going to be a WONDERFUL Wednesday...not a Whoa Wednesday like last week!  I can just FEEL IT!!

MARVELOUS MONDAY!!!

Wowsa!  The word that comes to mind when I saw 5B's line back from P.E, to lunch and back from lunch is.....

YeeHAW, baby!  Now that's what I KNEW 5B was capable of!!!  I'll expect that each and every time now..... If not... then we can always use recess to practice?!?  But we won't need that, now, will we?!

(Ok, so our line isn't quite like this....because most of YOU are as tall as or even TALLER than me, but you get the idea and the compliment, right?!)

Today's first day of switching classes with our new groups seemed to go FANTASTICALLY!
I met with the Fantastic Fives!
I met with the Dream Team!
and lastly.....
I met with the Wonderful Wackos!
Fun was had by all!

Please be sure to tell your families how it went for you, what order your classes were in, whether you were with me for reading or with Mrs, Knobloch!  I'll send a note home at the end of the week as a reminder about our new groups for switching!

I'll know you checked the blog if you take a guess at the answer to THIS QUESTION!  WRITE DOWN YOUR ANSWER on a piece of paper/post-it note/scratch paper/or whatever.  Show me your paper with the answer on it when you come in on Tuesday morning!
Here's the question....   What color is Isaiah's NEW cast?  We went to the doctor after school today to get X-rays and a new cast!  Which color did he choose?
Blue
Green
Pink
Orange
Purple

I'll show everyone a picture of him Tuesday morning as MY PROOF:)
Have a super Monday night, and keep up the FANTASTIC Cadet Pride!
Buh-Bye!

Are You Ready for More?

Hey, my darling 5B Angels (ding.... ahhhhh),
I Hope you had awesome weekends and got some rest!  I was POOPED on Friday night!  I actually fell asleep in Isaiah's bed after I was reading him stories!  I woke up in the middle of the night COMPLETELY confused, and then I realized where I was and crawled into my own bed!  What a great but EXHAUSTING first week of school!

I hope the boys' football teams had a fun first jamboree!  I don't know if girls had any dance or volleyball or if any of you were out biking, playing at parks or anything.  If so, I'm glad you got to get out and do something fun this weekend!

Last week was definitely a SUPER example of showing what Cadet Pride CAN look like and sound like.  We also should a few examples of what it maybe SHOULDN'T look and sound like.  But hey, we are trying, right!?  Mistakes are simply proof they we are trying!  And I can tell by the past 5 days that we have some funny, polite, smart, energetic, caring, helpful, spunky, serious and AWESOME kiddos in our 5B Family!  I'm making it official to the world.....   See below!!!  Yep, I'm publicly sharing my affection towards our family!!  Thanks for making our first week full of laughs!

Now... what's in store for the 2nd week of school, you may ask?  Well... I'll tell you!  We will start our mixed up 5A, 5B and 5C groupings tomorrow for the first time.  Remember, I'll go over all of this with you in the morning and give you your OWN personal schedule to follow so you feel comfortable and know where you're going, ok?  No STRESS!  Don't Worry!  As Timon and Pumba say from The Lion King........

Here are a few reminders for Monday...
1)  You have P.E. - remember the best kind of shoes!
2) You had math homework to find examples of math in your world/life.  Bring that in.
3) Get some rest.... It'll be a busy, busy day of switching with new classmates!

For your blog proof.... Hmmmm... what shall I have you do???  Let's see..  Oh, yes, I know.  I'll know you checked the blog if you have ALL of your subjects out for your morning classes (folders and notebooks for Math, Science AND Writing, including your iPAD and planner) at your homes RIGHT as you come in.  Have a great night!  See you soon!!

Back At It!

Wow, 5B did a PHENOMENAL job today with respect in the classroom and during some individual work time!  They even earned themselves a....

You Go, 5B!!  Yeehaw!!

It is my privilege to announce the name of our newest member of the class...
Meet....FIRE FISH!

It was a VERY close vote!  13 for Billlllll...and 15 for Fire Fish!  Maybe his middle name could be Billlllll?  Isaiah will be THRILLED that the name he suggested won the vote!

I'd say our 5B Family is showing some PERFECTION in areas throughout our first week!  Yeah, baby!!!  We could be models for other classes!

However..... our line for going from one place to another is.....  um....   well.....  um....

Why...?   Why...?   Why...?

We DEFINITELY need to get that one figured out... Let's get our heads together and see how we can figure this out... Maybe I can bring a special treat or we can do something special Friday afternoon if we can show how awesome we are OUT of the classroom, right!?  I know I see it IN the classroom!

I'll know you checked the blog tonight if you come in the room, "pop" your balloon for attendance and go STRAIGHT to working on your Guess Who page we started today (remember the one I want to see your 100% best effort?)!  You don't need to tell me ANYTHING... just go straight to it and I'll know you checked the blog:)

Miss you....
From Your 5B Mama :)

Whoa... Wednesday!

Hey, there my little 5B Angels (ding...ahhhhh)!
Yes, I titled this blog post Whoa Wednesday because, well, you know, it was a bit chattier today and a teeny bit forgetful of our T.H.I.N.K. poster.  Oops...  Here's a small version of what T.H.I.N.K. stands for so you can review and even tell your parents about it:)
The two that seemed to be tough to remember today were the H (helpful) and N (necessary).  Let's see if we can get those figured out again!  Our first 2 days were da BOMB!

Be sure to share with your families the red letter that showed pictures of all of your 5th grade teachers and what their jobs are.  This will help understand our switching a bit.  Also, you had your first day of ART!  Maybe share with your family how that went!

My favorite part of the day today was in reading class!  I LOVED watching so many determined students trying to READ 2 sentences.  I have pictures of some GREAT STRATEGIES you tried, but my phone was acting goofy, and I couldn't get them emailed to get on the post.  Sorry!  They were great though!  And... hmmm.. you know the answer to our Reading Test today, don't you?  Maybe have your parents ask YOU "What is reading?"  Give them the answer that will knock them on their tooshes!

A HUGE compliment I need to give out is to ALL of you blog checkers from last night!  I can't believe how many of you took the effort to check it! Let's see if we have that many tonight!

Here's your blog proof for tonight.... I'll know you checked the blog IF you come in to tell me that our fish's new name is a TIE between Billlllllll  and Firefish!  Those were the 2 highest votes, actually in a tie! So, Thursday morning we will have to REVOTE to decide his name:)  Remember, keep this blog proof to yourself!  Whisper to me "It's a tie" as you come in just like you did this morning!

I know it's a long week, getting back into routines, so we'll keep reminding each other about Cadet Pride and what it looks like and sounds like!

Sponge Bob says, "You can do this!"

FIRST Blog of the 2015-2016 School Year!

Hey, there, 5B!
It's been a fantastic 2 days with you!  I know by our afternoon today, some of you were getting VERY tired!  It takes a lot of effort and energy to be as PERFECT as I saw today!  Right?!

I want to compliment everyone on excellent examples of Cadet Pride today!  Based on your Kahoot game today, our 5B seems to know how to show Cadet Pride in many different situations.  Let's keep it going!  I'm so proud of our 5B Family!

The last 2 days have been a lot of fun for me, too!  Look at the pictures below and tell your families about the activities we did!
First Day!  We are all a little "puzzled" at times.  We need to
ask others for help!
Bubbles are important for school!  Why?
They teach us to T.H.I.N.K.

We released some pent up wiggles by blowing our
bubbles!  We earned the free time with some amazing
self-control while  Mrs. Sorenson blew bubbles at us!

Bring on the Selfie Stick!
First official picture of our 5B Family!

Our afternoon allowed us to play a game using Pic Collage
getting together with the other 2 classes!  VERY interested
participants!
There are MANY other memorable moments like...
Learning about the 5B Blog and playing some cool games!
Reading our first book, Swear to Howdy (REALLY FUNNY)!
Getting our planners and schedules!
Meeting Fee-Fee (And 1, And 2, And 1, And 2)

As I told you in class, it helps and is a bonus to check our 5B Blog each night to see if I posted anything new!  I will know if you checked the blog this first time IF you come in the room on Wednesday morning and WHISPER in my ear these silly words:  Pickle Juice  Be sure NOT to tell anyone else.  If you took time to check the blog, then YOU should get the reward, right?!  I've really enjoyed our first 2 days!  Let's make the rest of the week JUST as AWESOME!

Peace out!
