Well, 5B,
I don't have much to write because, of course, there aren't any assignments or projects to remind you of or anymore field trips. It's all coming down to the last 2 days.... It's been a crazy school year. I know the year started pretty rocky with some struggling with listening and behaviors, but I can honestly say that this class has grown more than ANY class I have ever taught. I've seen some real improvement in so many of you. It's not fun having that end...
OK, I'd better stop the mushy stuff before I start getting all teary-eyed. I'll just stick to a few reminders. Don't forget your snack and drink for tomorrow. Also, think about how you will get all of your materials home with you after school on Thursday. Bring a few extra plastic bags or another backpack, whatever you choose. If you are choosing to get a book at the Book Fair, bring your money for that, too!
Hope your last Wednesday night as a 5th grader is a good one....

Our Last Week in 5B Has Now Come...
Oh my goodness, 5B. As I write this I'm getting a bit emotional thinking about this being our last week together as a 5B family. I will try to keep myself under control and calm as long as I can. But I'm not promising to hold it together on our last day...
How about I just focus on some things we could keep in mind for this week for now, instead of our sad ending???
With all of the notes and fliers coming home the last 2 weeks, I thought I'd remind YOU and YOUR FAMILIES about some of the events taking place now and coming up...
1) Used Books: Clean off your shelves and bring send any gently used books to school for teachers to use in their classrooms! It will be like Christmas in May!
2) Scholastic Book Fair: Tuesday - Thursday of this week. It's a "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" deal. When you clean off your shelves of old books, you'll have room for new ones. What a great way to kick off some summer reading!!
3) School Surveys (for parents): Kids, could you remind your parents about the surveys that are online for them to complete. The information helps the school make changes that will improve things for families.
4) Summer Wisdom and Wellness Breakfast and Lunches: Kids, remind your families about the FREE BREAKFAST and LUNCHES the school is providing this summer. Any kids from the ages of 0 - 18 can come in and have a healthy start to their day and a lunch to keep them going until supper. You can come every day. If you have family or friends visiting in the summer, bring them, too! The more students we have enjoy the free meals, the better the program will run for future years! I'd love to make a "breakfast or lunch" reunion for our 5B class for some special day or even more often!
5) Last Days of School: There are a lot of things to do this last week. I wanted to give you a few reminders about what you'll need to think about.
**Return any missing library books. Will need to pay if can't find them.
**Return any text books or book club books that may have been missing.
**Will need to be cleaning out desks/lockers on Thursday. Bring extra bags if you have many items to bring home.
**Will have a class picnic on Thursday. Bring own sack lunch and drink. (no peanut butter items, please)
6) Of course, WW#4 is due Monday morning. This has been assigned for 8 weeks. We shouldn't have any reason to not have it ready. Right????
Sorry! I know this post was WAY LONG, but there are so many things going, and we've been extremely busy with all of our special activities. I'll know you checked the blog this weekend, if you come in on Monday morning with a SMILE and politely ask me for Last Week of School Reminder Note. It will have the same information as this post, but you can have a paper copy of it and hang in on your fridge for constant reminders:)
Have a great last weekend as a 5B student! Next weekend, you'll be on your way to 6th grade!

Work and Play Today!!!
5B,
Today was a great day for both work and play. I just spent the last hour looking through your movie trailers. I am AMAZED at how professional they look. There needs to be a bit of tweaking here and there and some MAJOR editing, but they look truly fantastic. I think you'll be surprised by all of your classmates. All the books look like they'd be AWESOME movies. Let's use our last days to make them the absolute BEST!
I'll know you checked the blog if you check out the game to the right of the this post. Write down how many guesses it took you to complete the game. Ignore any annoying ads that are in the way. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it, sorry:(
If it's nice weather and we get work done, hopefully we can use up more of our recess minutes on Tuesday.
Keep it real, 5B Munchkins!

Yikes!!! I'm feeling a bit freaked out about what we have for time left together!!! If you have been counting correctly and taking off a petal each day from your locker, you'll realize that we now only have TEN DAYS of school left!!!! Even though this is exciting for some, sad for some, "who cares?" for some, it is still important to think about Cadet Pride and responsibility with homework. Gladiators Take the Last Win...
Congrats to the Gladiators on 5B's last round of Cadet Pride Competitions! I enjoyed each and every chance to see a team get their reward! Thanks to all teams for making it a good competition and fun opportunities for teamwork!
I saw a lot of blue tickets come from science and social studies today! That's awesome! Let's keep it up and see what 5th grade can accomplish with the last few weeks! Already 6 homeruns?? Wowser! I challenge 5B (and the rest of 5th grade to DOUBLE that number by the end of this school-wide competition! I know you are capable...but can you do it in such a short amount of time??? Bring it on!
I'll know you checked the blog if you check out the website that's to the right of this post. It will give you a sneak-peek at what we're doing in writing on Tuesday. If you check this website, you can bring in ONE item that the website is about. Show it to me when you come in, and I'll let you have it during WRITING class!
Let's continue a great week, 5B! Remember, we have our Nature Center field trip on Thursday. (Layered clothing, P.E. type shoes, water bottle)

Tear Filled Friday:(
Well, 5B,
I'm hoping everyone had a chance to find some calmness on Friday after our emotional morning with Jason. I'm sure Jason has no doubts about how much we'll miss him. It's too bad Karissa wasn't here to help us say her farewell to Jason. He'll always be a part of our 5B family, like Collin is and now how Desiree gets to join in!
By the time I saw a lot of you at the Family Fun Night Friday evening, it seems most people had gotten a fresh, new burst of energy. I had a blast there. We'll have to make sure we thank the PTO for all of their hard work in putting the games and fun together for us. I think our Rice Krispies were a hit, too!
I'll keep it short today. Hopefully you've enjoyed the nice weather this weekend and given your moms, grandmas, aunts, etc. a hug for Mother's Day at some point.
I'll know you checked the blog this weekend if you do the following things for me RIGHT when you come in. I'll have it on the Smartboard too as your Morning Message as a reminder:
1) Get out Soc.St. and Sci. materials.
2) Meet with Cadet Pride Teams and count up your points from last week.
See you Monday morning!

Fun Day with 5B!
5B,
I hope you enjoyed today as much as I did. I thought the day just flew by. I have quite the little bakers to recommend jobs for one day. Please make sure to thank your families for donating the ingredients to make such tasty treats! Also, I loved the participation in the Interlude Dance during the exercise time. The video that was taken of the 5th grade dancing will be shown on Thursday and maybe even posted to You Tube! Wow, you're famous! I'd say, from start to finish, you WOWED me today, once again!
I'm trying to get the pictures I took from today posted on this blog. So, I hope you can see some of them.
I'll know you checked the blog today if you write down which picture is your favorite from the ones I show on the blog. I hope to get more on a slideshow, but it wasn't working very well for me tonight.
Thanks again for a great day, 5B. The great teamwork with Rice Krispies, the willingness to help and clean up, all the classwork that was done, all of the newspapers rolled up today, etc. These are the things that make teachers proud of their jobs - Seeing kids become independent, helpful citizens! You make my job so fun and exciting. Oh, also, thanks for the gifts and cards I've received for Teacher Appreciation Week. You and your families are so thoughtful! I'm lucky to have you in my class!
